Salic Law Solitaire Rules

| Players: 1 | Type: Solitaire | Supplies: 2 Decks |

The objective of Salic Law Solitaire is to build the foundation piles from ace to jack as the stock is being dealt.

Remove all queens from the decks, they are not used in the game. Remove one king from one of the decks and place it in the tableau face up. Shuffle the decks together.

Game Play

Salic law solitaire begins at the start of the deal. When an ace is revealed during the deal, it is moved to start a foundation pile above the kings. As soon as a foundation pile is started, foundation piles may begin to be built up, any top card of any tableau pile is available for play onto foundation piles. All foundation piles are built up in sequence from ace to jack, regardless of suits.

The player deals cards onto the king until another king appears. When a king appears on top of a tableau pile, it is moved to form a new tableau pile. Dealing continues on the new tableau pile. The process of dealing until a new king appears, and moving the king to start a new tableau pile, continues until all kings are dealt out, and the entire deck is dealt out. This will result in a tableau of eight piles of varying lengths.

When all cards are dealt out, building on the foundation piles continues. The top card of each tableau pile is always available for play. The kings are considered the base of each tableau pile. If there is only a king in a tableau pile, the pile is considered “empty” and any top card of any other tableau pile may be placed on the king. There is no building on the tableau piles. Play continues until the foundation piles are complete (from ace to jack) or the player runs out of moves.

To Win

To win salic law solitaire, the player must build all foundation piles from ace to jack. If the player runs out of moves before the foundation piles are complete, the game is lost.
